Bio meal moth spheres (10 pc.)

Parasitoid wasps for biological control of meal moths

These spheres contain small parasitoid wasps that can be used against meal moths, also known as pantry moths, and against clothes moths. Meal moths are often found when keeping birds or pigeons. The moths lay their eggs in bird food or food residues, after which small catterpillars hatch. This is often seen as silk threads in the animal feed. The feed also gets a moldy/ musty scent. The scent is caused by the decaying of the animal feed. It starts decaying because it is partly eaten by the catterpillars and comes in contact with their excretions.

When the moths are present or the first catterpillars are observed you can release small parasitoid wasps to combat this pest. The wasps only measure a few mm and are completely harmless for humans and other animals. They reproduce by parasitizing the eggs of the meal moths and clothes moths due to which no catterpillars will hatch. The parasitoid wasps are supplied in small spheres that can simply be placed in the animal shelter. Upon hatching they will leave the sphere and start looking for eggs to parasitize.

Use one sphere per 1m2, they can be placed anywhere. This product contains 10 spheres, enough for 10m2.

The spheres have a very limited shelf life and we recommend to use them immediately upon receipt. If necessary they can be stored for several days at 5-8C.
